The 7th Annual Benic\u00e0ssim Flamenco Fusion Food Festival will be held from 29 April to 1 May and over the course of these three days the spirit of flamenco will be in the city centre.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As stated by the mayor of Benic\u00e0ssim, Susana Marqu\u00e9s, the event will now return to its normal dates after the 6th edition was held out of season last October. \u201cThis event started in 2015, and over the course of these eight years we have seen it grow to become a major event in <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Benic\u00e0ssim\u2019s <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">calendar and a chance to enjoy our city\u2019s music and cuisine, making our list of tourist and cultural activities that much more attractive. This year the festival will return to its normal dates after being put on hold by the pandemic, and thanks to this our residents and visitors will be able to enjoy, live and feel flamenco for free on the streets of Benic\u00e0ssim.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Tourism Councillor, Cristina Fern\u00e1ndez, unveiled the full programme for the 7th annual festival. It will take part across four areas in the city \u201cand will continue the tradition of bringing flamenco song and dance to a variety of outdoor areas and continue to be backed by businesses, which is so vital, helping flamenco culture and local cuisine come together hand in hand.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The main stage, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>El Tablao<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, will be placed along Paseo P\u00e9rez Bayer, \u201cand here on this stage residents and visitors will be able to take in the biggest names in the world of flamenco like Los Chichos, Junco and Duquende\u201d, Fern\u00e1ndez went on to say. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Los Chichos, a leading rumba band in the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s, will open the main stage Friday 29 April at 11 pm. Songs like \u201cNi m\u00e1s ni menos\u201d, \u201cNo s\u00e9 por qu\u00e9\u201d y \u201cSon ilusiones\u201d, are part of the history of Spanish music, \u201cand despite officially stepping down from the stage in 2015, we are glad to have them back\u201d, added the Tourism Councillor.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">On Saturday starting at 7:30 pm it will be Ketamania\u2019s turn on the stage, a tribute band to the legendary Carmona brothers\u2019 group, made up of Paradita Flamenca\u2019s members. After them Ricardo Gabarre will perform. Better known as Junco, this 80\u2019s artist is one of the most famous \u201cbalada gitana\u201d singers. \u201cHola mi amor\u201d and \u201cCelos\u201d are two other songs that are part of the history of rumba and flamenco. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Duquende, the third headliner, will close the main stage Sunday 1 May (6:30 pm), leading the 3rd Singing and Dancing Performance. Joining Juan Rafael Cort\u00e9s Santiago (Duquende), the official singer-songwriter for Paco de Luc\u00eda\u2019s tours for almost 20 years, will be Fosi y Familia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><a name=\"__DdeLink__1748_4233540079\"><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Plaza de Los Dolores, Plaza Sequiota and Plaza de la Estaci\u00f3n are three other locations for performances in this year\u2019s 7th annual festival, which will also include three indoor gigs at venues on Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. A total of eleven performances from regional groups are on this year\u2019s programme: A Comp\u00e1s, Desandar, Jarite, Efra\u00edn, Jarana, Paradita Flamenca, Isra Maldonado, Patxi Ojana, Rumbasound, M.\u00aa Jos\u00e9 \u201cLa Gitanilla\u201d and Rumbolog\u00eda. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">In addition, on Sunday at noon the programme includes a Roc\u00edo group performing traditional Andalusian songs at the 2nd meeting of Sevillanas and, before this, kids will have the chance to take part in the \u201cKid\u2019s Flamenco\u201d workshop.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">All in all, almost twenty performances will bring flamenco back to Benic\u00e0ssim for the May long weekend.
