The 7th Annual Benic\u00e0ssim Flamenco Fusion Food Festival started this afternoon, and will fill the city centre with flamenco music and cuisine until Sunday 1 May. Plaza Constituci\u00f3n was the site of the first performance, where <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"es-ES-u-co-trad\"><i>A Comp\u00e1s<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span lang=\"es-ES-u-co-trad\"> played before the dinner service. As pointed out by the mayor, Susana Marqu\u00e9s, \u201cthis festival was first held to bring together music and food, with the goal of energising our restaurants and local economy and stop our tourist activities from being just seasonal\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">After the dinner service, the action will move to Paseo P\u00e9rez Bayer where the main stage, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>El Tablao<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, will be opened at 11 pm, \u201cand here on this stage residents and visitors will be able to take in the biggest names in the world of flamenco\u201d, stated the Tourism Councillor, Cristina Fern\u00e1ndez. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Los Chichos<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, a leading rumba band in the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s, will open this stage with no shortage of songs such as \u201cNi m\u00e1s ni menos\u201d, \u201cNo s\u00e9 por qu\u00e9\u201d and \u201cSon ilusiones\u201d, which are on the set planned for the first night at the festival.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The programme for the first day of the festival will come to a close at midnight with <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Desandar<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> performing at Donegal. A<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">fter the opening day, the programme will continue tomorrow Saturday 30 April, with performances across the city centre. As Cristina Fern\u00e1ndez pointed out, performances will be spread out across a variety of city squares \u201cto energise the city and ensure the life of the festival can be felt across the city centre\u201d. In this sense, Saturday\u2019s programme will start in Plaza Los Dolores with a performance by Jarite, and a performance by <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Efra\u00edn<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> in Plaza de la Estaci\u00f3n, both starting at 12:30 pm. In the afternoon, <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Jarana<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Paradita Flamenca<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Isra Maldonado<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> will perform at 4:30 pm respectively<\/span><\/span><\/span> at Plaza Los Dolores, Plaza Sequiota and Plaza Constituci\u00f3n.<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><u>Patxi Ojana<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> will hand over the stage at Pub Magic <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">to <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Ketamania<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, a tribute band to the legendary Carmona brothers\u2019 group, made up of Paradita Flamenca\u2019s members. After them Ricardo Gabarre will perform. Better known as <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Junco<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, this 80\u2019s artist is one of the most famous \u201cbalada gitana\u201d singers. \u201cHola mi amor\u201d and \u201cCelos\u201d are two other songs that are part of the history of rumba and flamenco.
