Benicàssim, 10 November 2022
This morning, Benicàssim Town Council’s Tourism department held the Comprehensive System for In-Destination Tourism Quality in Spain (SICTED) working group meeting, chaired by the town’s mayor, Susana Marqués, and attended by the head of the department, Elena Llobell and experts from the municipality and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana. Also present were representatives from the Benicàssim Association of Tourism Business-Owners (AETB), the Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Autonomous Region (HOSBEC), the Benicàssim Association of Trade and Professional Services (Acoserbe) and the Benicàssim Association of Business-Owners and Hospitality (Ehosbe).
SICTED (Comprehensive System for In-Destination Tourism Quality in Spain) is a project for improving the quality of tourist destinations, promoted by the State Secretariat for Tourism (SET) and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). The SICTED Benicàssim project, launched in 2013, includes 48 tourism services in the following trades: leisure parks, tourist accommodation, campsites, cafés and restaurants, wineries, hotels and tourist apartments, active tourism companies, healthcare companies, beaches, beach tourism services and tourist information offices.
Today’s working group meeting evaluated the applications of 25 local businesses to maintain or renew the quality mark at the Mark Committee in December. These companies are: BeniQásim 1915, Palasiet Thalasso Clinic & Hotel, Restaurante Jimena, Restaurante Olivia, Sombrillas y Hamacas en Benicàssim Mayte, Cafetería Torreón, Carmelitano Bodegas, Hotel Bulevard, Hotel Voramar, Restaurante La Trabiesa, Hotel Tramontana, Aquarama, Roger Real Estate, Camping Tauro, Hotel Bersoca, Hotel Canadá, Itinerantur, Kinesis Fisioterapia, Orange Costa, Bonterra Resort, Hotel Intur Azor, Hotel Intur Bonaire, Hotel Intur Orange, Playas de Benicàssim and Tourist Info Benicàssim.
According to the mayor, “the number of companies set to renew the quality mark shows that Benicàssim’s business sector is committed to boosting the quality of their services and of this destination. Together they have achieved a standardised quality level in the tourism services offered by our town and, therefore, they contribute towards Benicàssim being one of the most important tourist destinations in our province and Autonomous Region.”
The meeting also recognised the tourism activity carried out over the past year and, as Elena Llobell added: “we are grateful for the involvement of the Tourism department staff and for the continuous commitment to tourism quality shown by Benicàssim’s business sector; this encourages us at the Town Council to continue promoting continuous training for business owners and to drive management of services that are provided based on certified quality”.
