Marqués: “the data show that the city continues to be considered the top destination in the province thanks to the work and cooperation of the business community and local government.”
Benicàssim, 7 August 2022
Benicàssim City Council, through its Tourism Department, has reviewed its tourism numbers for July and found some welcoming data, with an average hotel occupancy of 77.67%. “These are great numbers given where we stand. We are 15 points above last year’s occupancy for July, and occupancy even hit 90% during Benicàssim’s International Music Festival (FIB)”, said the Mayor of Benicàssim, Susana Marqués.
In this sense, it looks as though the estimates made at the start of summer by tourist industry associations, predicting occupancy levels would be similar to pre-COVID numbers, are proving to be true. “We are happy with Benicàssim’s July occupancy numbers because they show our city is competitive and continues to be considered the top destination in the province thanks to the work and cooperation of the business community and local government”, highlighted Marqués. The mayor also went on to say that “we are continuing our work towards establishing Benicàssim as more than just a summer tourist destination.
In this sense, Benicàssim City Council has drawn up as usual a comprehensive programme for boosting tourism, mainly consisting of family-oriented activities, and there was a great turnout for ‘Imagina Benicàssim’ Festival of Magic. “Our Tourism Department has started this season focused on boosting tourism across the city, with initiatives for children to actively participate”, added the Tourism Councillor, Cristina Fernández.
