Synopsis: Ruby is the only hearing member of a deaf family from Gloucester, Massachusetts. She is a CODA, a child of a deaf adult. At 17, she works mornings before school to help her parents and brother keep their fishing business afloat. Eager for new hobbies, Ruby decides to try her luck at her high school's choir club, where she finds herself drawn to both her latent passion for singing and the boy she is to sing a duet with. Her passionate teacher sees something special in her and encourages her to think about going to music school, something which would force her to make a decision for her future: her education or her family.
