Greenway

Routes and Nature

The greenway is a coastal cycling route that showcases a wild and natural section of the coast linking the tourist towns of Benicàssim and Oropesa. The track has been refurbished by the Ministry to form part of the network of greenways suitable for cycling and walking. You can access the Greenway from both towns. From Benicàssim, enter the town and take Avinguda Jaume I, which runs parallel to the coast between villas and buildings. Stay in the direction of Oropesa along the coast. You will come to a coastal road at the end of Avinguda Jaume I which the train track crosses above. You will see a sign for Hotel Palasiet on the left. There is a place to park among pine trees near the hotel in the north of Benicàssim, which is very close to the start of the greenway.

The route between Benicàssim and Oropesa is 5.5 km one way, which is a total of 11 km that you can cycle leisurely and with stops in one hour and a half. The first part crosses a small tunnel at km 1 and the first watchtower on a beautiful cliff over the sea at km 1.5, where there is a rest area and viewpoint. The track runs between trenches and open areas with views of the sea until it reaches a 600 m long tunnel at km 4. Bear in mind that the lights in the tunnel don’t always work, so you should bring lights for the bike. After passing this long tunnel, you will arrive at km 5 where Oropesa port and sailing club are located, leaving only 500 m to reach the first buildings in Oropesa (km 5.5). You can go down to the promenade to the playgrounds and beach bars.
